Nick Shirley exposed a plaza that once housed dozens of alleged fake hospice providers. Shortly after that investigation, the complex is now empty. Why do you think that is?

According to Shirley, “In this one location alone we saved America $30 million.” The fact that an independent journalist had to do what officials should have prevented is a slap in the face to the American taxpayer.
After the investigation conducted by Shirley, California passed the 'Stop Nick Shirley Act'. Critics have argued that this would now make it illegal for journalists to do what Shirley did.
That is why Shirley had no choice but to sue the state for this blatant attack on the First Amendment.

According to the Daily Signal:
Nick Shirley announced today on X that he is suing the state of California over the controversial bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom that critics have dubbed the “Stop Nick Shirley Act.”
AB 2624 restricts the publication of certain identifying information about workers at organizations that provide immigration-related services when a worker submits a written request that the information not be published.
Critics of the law, including Shirley, argue the restrictions could interfere with journalists and others investigating those organizations.
Had officials done their job, none of this would have ever happened. But because people are demanding accountability after the state proved it could not be bothered to care, the Gov. signs a law banning people from exposing the massive incompetence. To call this pathetic would be an understatement.
