Scott Jennings highlights the one bright spot for the GOP after election night: Mamdani

CNN's @ScottJenningsKY on Zohran Mamdani: "I'm going to compliment your guy. He's the greatest actor you have. You know, he turned himself into a hood ornament for the poor and the downtrodden. He's a rich kid who is a great actor. He -- he play acts. He play acts"

Leave it to Scott Jennings to find the silver lining in a horrible election night for Republicans: The Zohran. He is the new leader of the Democrat Party, and will lead to primary challenges from the Hudson River to the Salton Sea. Now that The Zohran doesn't have to pretend to be a "moderate" anymore and can strut in his true form, it's going to cause headaches for a Democrat Party already struggling with its extremist base.
Mmmhmmm. America’s immigration system is an utter failure. https://t.co/PiI2RF6778

It's not much of a silver lining. The right definitely got schlonged last night. I'd just offer two things.
1. We were always going to lose. There were glimmers of hope in a few New Jersey polls, and it would have been nice if Northern Virginia wine moms stopped chasing their SSRIs with Sauvignon Blanc long enough to NOT vote for the attorney general candidate who wanted to murder children. But it is what it is. Both are blue states. When one party wins the White House, Virginia goes the other way the following year. It's the circle of life.
2. As someone who has lost many of them, no lessons are ever learned on Election Night. Losing sucks, and emotions are high when it happens. It's easy to say the right should have been more focused on getting out the vote than it was on defending poor little Tucker Carlson from receiving the slightest bit of online criticism. Or, claiming without evidence that if X had done Y, like my favorite influencer tweeted, none of this would have happened. Have a drink and take a breath. You need time to let the dust settle and get a full picture of what happened last night, including in many local races.
For now, focus on the silver lining we have. If nothing else, last night's results have highlighted the radical ideology we're fighting against.
It's oppressors and oppressed. That's why the Jews in this city feel scared because they know [The Zohran] has labeled them as the oppressors. That's why people who create jobs in New York City are leery, because he labels them the oppressors. That is the the worldview of the energy of this campaign. And it's also the worldview of the energy of Democratic primaries across this country.
I see the energy in the Democratic Party tonight behind a socialist, and I see the energy in Virginia Democrats looking the other way on a violent candidate for attorney general who says he wants to murder Republicans and their children.
"He's not a communist, he's a democratic socialist."
"Can you explain to me the difference?"
"Communism is a trigger word to try to undermine all of his policies."

Not that the fundamentals aren't still the fundamentals. And not that poor Bonchie (who is a great X-Twitter follow) isn't gonna feel silly when he realizes he misspelled the word "economy" before the word "stupid."

But it was one bad night. You win some and you lose some. Then you take the lessons learned and adjust. Everyone, take a deep breath today. Irish up the coffee. Go outside and touch grass. Then sit back down and say, "What's next?"
