According to Joy Reid, the Democratic Republic of the Congo would be the “real Wakanda,” as it has “every mineral in the greatest abundance on the planet.” However, she said the reason that the country is one of the poorest in the world is because of Western Countries and exploitation.

“Companies like Apple, they just view it as a place to plunder,” she claimed, making it unclear why she holds zero accountability towards the country's own leadership.

Maybe, just maybe, the reason the country is a total failure might just have something to do with decades of corrupt rule, including Africa's longest-running dictatorships under Mobutu Sese Seko.

What about the “Second Congo War”? Surely, she can't blame the West for this, can she?

I am also having a hard time determining how the West is responsible for the poor mineral leadership. And is the centuries-long lack of infrastructure also because of the West?

Are all these things because of Western countries? Because something is not adding up here.

To blame the West for the Congo’s problems today is deeply disingenuous. While the left would like you to believe the world’s troubles are always a result of White racism, the evidence proves it has more to do with local corruption and pathetic governance. But according to Reid, none of this is justification for their leaders to be held accountable, and exactly why we should double down on White people being bad or whatever.

Don't you also love how she blamed Apple for the poor running of mines in the country? She implied it owned or controlled mining operations, as if it didn't buy these resources through the global supply chain. Apple has no say in the country’s labor laws, and while you might be able to make the argument that Apple should be more cautious on what systems it supports, the corruption lies with the government.

Sometimes it is hard to tell if Reid is objectively stupid or a liar, but with this one, we can very well assume the former.
