Roseanne Revenge: There's a Push to Get Bill Maher Fired
After Roseanne got fired for her tweet about Valerie Jarrett, there's been a push to fire Bill Maher. You know, what with tribalism being inhaled like ether. The left got a scalp, so the right needs a scalp too. Any time the sweet meteor of death wants to make its appearance...

To be charitable, let's just say Roseanne and Maher aren't exactly comparable to each other.

Look, I get the desire to go scalp for scalp. I know tribalism is the on-trend thing these days. There are just two key problems.
First, Roseanne was never part of our tribe. She was a socialist who liked Donald Trump. The show's episodes, while I found them funny, weren't exactly pro-conservative mission statements. We got what we paid for just to trigger the left.
Second, and most importantly, Bill Maher is the first - and usually one of the few lefties - to defend conservatives when the outrage mob comes after us. Issue by issue, he's wrong about a lot. But Maher is an ally when it comes to the thought police (see Bill Maher Defends Laura Ingraham Against Leftist Boycotters and Bill Maher: You’re Not Woke, You’re Just a Douchebag). When it comes to free speech, he's an absolutist. Targeting him because of a joke he made about Trump is misguided at best. A pathetic way to excuse what Roseanne said about Valerie Jarrett at worst.
Roseanne said something stupid. She lost her job over it. It's ok for everyone to just sit this one out. Roseanne wasn't silenced or censored by government. She was fired over ethics. You may not agree with ABC. That's fine. But this isn't a free speech issue. So don't make it one.
