Yesterday, it was announced that Tyler Robinson could face the death penalty, as the trial accusing him of killing Charlie Kirk will continue. Today’s show breaks it down.

According to the defendant's lawyer, just because Kirk was supposedly “hateful,” that does not mean Robinson killed him for political reasons.

Per The Washington Times:

Defense attorney Richard Novak said Kirk “spoke hatefully” against certain people but that the prosecution lacked proof Mr. Robinson was motivated to do so because he was in a same-sex relationship with a transgender individual, Lance Twiggs.

“Reframing language, and then getting to the point where you reframe language legally, proper pronouns are hateful. You have countries where that is the case, and you can be arrested, fined, you will lose your job, and you will be deplatformed if you use the wrong pronoun. It is a backdoor, a Trojan horse, to absolute censorship. Once you redefine words in a completely nonsensical manner, with no basis in reality, you now control speech. And you are seeing this being argued in a legal setting. Tell me anything that Charlie Kirk said that was hateful,” Crowder said.

“It is true that Mr. Kirk spoke hatefully of certain groups of people,” Mr. Novak said. “He spoke hatefully of people who don’t have traditional norm-conforming gender identities, he spoke hatefully of people who are not strictly heterosexual. He spoke hatefully of people who have sexual relationships out of marriage, and yes, it is true that the evidence from Mr. Twiggs is that he identified in a non-gender-conforming way to his friends, and that he was in a romantic relationship with Mr. Robinson,” Mr. Novak said.

“But that doesn’t mean that those personal choices by Mr. Twiggs and by Mr. Robinson equate with the hate that at least Mr. Robinson says he had toward Mr. Kirk,” the lawyer said.

“When a Christian believes living together is for the confines of marriage, and in this case, let's not include the state contract, but a covenant before God, you understand that is the Christian belief, right?” Crowder said. “Do you view that person as hateful? I actually think he did a service to Christians by comparing same sex marriage and Charlie Kirk's view on that as outside the Biblical prescription, just as outside heterosexual, non-married individuals engaging in sexual relations. Why is it hateful in one instance and just part of religion in another? Now do Islam. That was a slip.”
