WATCH: 'Precious' Star Blames Personal Woes on "Older White Men"
Quick rhetoricĀ lesson: "Racism" is when someone has a bias against a group of people based purely on their skin color. "Hasty generalization" is the fallacy of stereotyping an entire group based on the actions of one. "Leftist moon-faced ninnie" is a person who embodies the first two concepts. The following video shows a member of such species with her traditional mating call of outraged hysteria.
I present to you Gabourey Sidibe, the star of the movie "Precious."
āUm, yeah. IĀ think what happens is, one, IĀ am ā I think people think IāmĀ younger than I am, and Iām black,Ā and I have a different body soĀ people discount me no matterĀ where I go if they donātĀ recognize me from, like, movies, fromĀ being a star. They just assume IāmĀ not supposed to be there."āThat happens in high-end stores,Ā not always, but it happens,ā she added. āAlso it happens ā the worst, like the mostĀ offensive to me is ā and this isĀ going to sound chi chi ā but firstĀ class, like on airplanes. ItāsĀ the worst, because thereās alwaysĀ some older white man whoās like āyouāre in the wrong line, hun.'ā
āAnd Iām like, hereās my ticket. Youāre in the wrong line! Sorry, donāt discount me. Donāt you stop me.ā
āThey really do that, donātĀ they,ā said Joy Behar.
āThey do,ā the actress responded. āAnd they are rude to white women. Older white men are aĀ problem, yāall, for everyone. Weāre all at risk.ā
āI suspect itās because Iām black, but it could also be because Iām fat,ā Sidibe shared in the piece.
Or, and this is just a guess, it could be because you are a bee with an itch, if you get myĀ subtle cussery. It could also be that ONE time, some old white dude genuinely thought you needed assistance with the fine art of line standing. According to your rhetoric, those "old white men" are probably from the south, where they master line dancing. I can stereotype too.
She's takingĀ nuanced characteristics and creating a stereotype, saying we need to stop an entire group of white men because of it. Sounds a lot like racism to me.
How much white privilegeĀ do you have? Are you white? Then congratulations, somehow you have privilege. Find out how much:
