British actor Will Poulter would like to weigh in on American federal immigration laws, despite not being, well, you know, American. And his stance is worse than you think.
According to Poulter, it's βreally upsettingβ to see Americans βforget that we're a country that we have immigrants to thank for.β
Illegal immigration is deeply unpopular with the American people, and at the very least, if your opinions are contrary to that view, you should keep your mouth shut.
Unsurprisingly, he also feels similar towards his own country's immigration laws, or lack thereof.
"And I feel the same way about my home country in the UK. As an actor I don't want to conflate my influence or what I'm able to do in order to affect change, but certainly I try to look at how I can draw attention to certain things in society to try and raise awareness or to try and motivate change and activate people."
To be fair, he did admit heβs an actor and not an authority figure on the subject, but said he would do his best to direct the public to other activists to bring βawareness.β
There are many things wrong with what he said.
Firstly, heβs not American, and itβs pathetic how reporters try to get every celebrity to take a stance for or against the Trump Administration, especially when it has nothing to do with their job. Secondly, people donβt forget we are in a βcountry that we have immigrants to thank for.β It should be the other way around. Immigrants should be thanking Americans for having a country to thank for. There is a reason people from all over the world try to come here, and not the other way around. Itβs not that immigrants make this country great, nor does it make this country not great; itβs that this country is great because of the founding principles, which have nothing to do with migration.
Additionally, he uses the term βimmigrants,β but the topic at debate is not immigration; itβs illegal immigration. The left uses the term immigrant and criminal alien interchangeably, which is an effort to confuse the naive masses as if they have not broken our laws. They do this to deceive, because when the media and left become honest with their terminology, itβs not as easy to convince the public to jump on the leftist bandwagon.
As Poulter said, heβs no activist. This is why people like him should stick to what they do best and keep their mouths shut. Some humans are illegal, and the sooner he realizes that, the less naive he will be. Until then, he should stay out of American politics.
