Watch: Why The Podcast Bros are Turning on Trump
Rolling Stone points out that ‘Manosphere’ influencers have cooled on Trump. Today’s show takes a closer look.
“No one is perfect, but it’s probably been the most effective administration in my lifetime,” Crowder said.
According to Rolling Stone:
Manosphere podcasters didn’t win Donald Trump the presidency in the 2024 election cycle, but they went a long way to solidifying the president’s support among large swaths of the young men who follow them. Now — nine months into the implementation of the president’s agenda — the same ultra-popular podcasters and streamers who lent their audiences to the president in 2024 are scrambling to break with his government.
“Popularity comes in waves. It will wane. That does not change the principles or your vision for our country. And that is what I found disturbing about this,” Crowder said. “I don’t know how you can say you’re surprised that Donald Trump is deporting people. I don’t know how you could possibly be surprised by that.”
The article claims that Kick streamer Adin Ross, comedian Theo Von, and Joe Rogan have all turned on the president.
During Trump’s campaign, he promised to carry out the “largest deportation operation in the history of this country.” According to Tom Homan, ICE often focuses on targeted criminal deportations, but in the process, they may encounter other individuals living in the country illegally. These individuals are also deported, even though they were not the original “criminal target.”
Reports estimate that about two million people have been deported since Trump took office, including those who self-deported. This is far short of the 12–20 million who reportedly entered the country under Biden.
“Some of these people are new to the cause and don’t realize that when you say you support deporting illegal immigrants and preventing tens of millions from living here illegally, it’s going to be messy. It’s going to tug on your heartstrings,” Gerald A. said. “Nobody likes being told they have to leave a country they’re in illegally. And, of course, the Democrats want to run a campaign against the Republicans and make it look like something it isn’t. Where have you been this entire time?”
Additionally, even CNN has admitted that over half of Americans believe Trump is doing exactly what he promised.
“The people who hate Donald Trump hate him because he’s doing exactly what he said he would do,” Crowder said. “The people who voted for him are, by and large, happy because, according to the polls, he’s fulfilling his promises. It just feels disingenuous when the only voices claiming ‘I’m not getting what I voted for’ are podcast hosts who were mostly liberal until recently.”
