Patrick Clancy was interviewed by 60 Minutes. Today’s show breaks down how it went and what was missing.

Ross Douthat opened the episode by claiming the trial has “generated furious arguments about the relationship between mental illness and criminal fault, the ways in which the medical system fails mothers and how men and women understand one another.” However, this is incorrect.

“You can erase all of that and say ‘it has highlighted that far too many women, including 9 jurors, are completely illogical and have no business running society as we know it and men are finally speaking out.’ Not all women, just all 9 female jurors and far too many women in poll after poll after poll supporting Lindsay Clancy and developing conspiracy theories,” Crowder said.

One thing that stuck out to Crowder during this interview was that Lindsay never asked Patrick for forgiveness for the murders. Additionally, she has never publicly expressed remorse for doing what she did to her three children.

Patrick Clancy: I think I did the best I could with what I had at the time. And I live with the outcome. I live with it every day.

Ross Douthat: Has she ever asked for your forgiveness?

Patrick Clancy: No. But I gave it to her.

“She never actually expressed remorse. If she was claiming not guilty, meaning she didn't do it, it would make sense because that is some level of culpability, but in this case, the not guilty by reason of insanity plea means she did it, but they need to say she was not mentally in charge of her own actions. So, it might actually be assistive, one could argue, that she expressed remorse,” Crowder said.

The only publicly available remorse came from testimony by psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack. According to CNN, Mack said, “The remorse and sadness about the events that this case is about. Her separation or estrangement from her then-husband. Her being separated from the world. Her physical injury.”

Patrick also shifted blame from Lindsay onto mental illness.

Patrick Clancy: I saw headlines that said, you know, "Killer Mom," and "Baby Murderer," "Monster." And none of 'em were accurate I believe that it was her mental illness that caused that. So I shared those words. And I think when it comes to forgiveness, I also felt that if I didn't get there, I would be eaten up inside forever.

On another note, Lindsay and Patrick have filed separate lawsuits against the healthcare providers.

“This interview should have never taken place. There is no value here,” Crowder said.
