When Ron DeSantis dropped a podcast appearance with Stephen A. Smith on the morning of Election Day, one that was critical of Trump Admin from the right, he knows that we know that he knows that we know. And we all hate the person who starts talking about the presidential primary before the dust settles. But I just can't help myself.
After last night's schlacking, I can't imagine ANYONE rushing to make a 2028 decision. Not DeSantis. Not JD Vance. Not Marco Rubio. However, the one bright spot was DeSantis's two-term success in Florida dragging the statewide GOP ticket across the finish line.
With the loss of governors races in Texas, Ohio and Georgia, there will be only one state of the top ten most populous states with a Republican governor:Florida.

So he sat down with Stephen A.. OBVIOUSLY he's thinking about 2028. I'm sure a lot of people who ran in 2024 and 2020 are thinking about it. Maybe not Vivek.
He's in a position where he has a record of policy and governing success and isn't going to be confused as a RINO, while also having no ties to the current adminstration, so he can be honest about it.
TRUTH NUKE: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis: “So here's the thing with Iran and why I think it's been a big, big drag. You know, it was launched. He obviously ran saying he wasn't gonna do a Middle East war; they did. So we had some of our voters who've checked out because they're like, I didn't want any more Middle East wars, and now we're doing it. Had that been wrapped up in like a week, like Venezuela was very quick, people probably wouldn't have been an issue right now.” “What's happened is it's kind of an open-ended conflict, and it's having a direct impact on people's finances because they're going to the gas pump. They're seeing energy prices have gone up. And, you know, I made a comment this weekend when I was campaigning for our attorney general candidate, and some of these Republicans are saying, ‘Oh, well, the gas, don't worry. You know, it's not a big deal.’”“Like they're trying to blame Biden for it. No, no, listen, we just gotta be honest. Gas is higher. It hurts people, working-class people, and it's higher because of this conflict. That's just the fact. If you can't admit that to voters, then you're gaslighting them, and they're not gonna listen to you on other things.”The greatest governor in American history, Ron DeSantis, hit the nail on the head — but of course, Republicans were too stupid to listen.

It also allows him to be critical of some of the less than stellar members of the adminstration. One of them rhymes with Bristi Home. As someone who SUPPORTS Trump's immigration enforcement and wants MORE illegals deported, let's just say mistakes were made in the beginning.
Parts of last season’s “South Park” were trying too hard, but they NAILED IT with Kristi Noem. The performative content farm faggotry over deportations got engagement with a niche audience of fanbois and not much else. https://t.co/2OlUnTPDBt

I'm only jokingly talking about 2028, because...really, what the hell else am I gonna talk about this morning? Truth of the matter, I didn't and don't see Ron DeSantis running against JD Vance. Same with Marco Rubio, who I don't see running in 2028 either way.
The rub is I'm not sure I see Vance running after last night. The man does have the "it's not the right time for my young family" excuse at his disposal.
If Vance doesn't run, DeSantis is a definite frontrunner.
