Ozzy Osbourne's family gets emotional sharing heartfelt voicemail from Donald Trump after the icon's passing

Ozzy Osbourne passed away this summer after a battle with Parkinson's. His family got together for Jack Osbourne's podcast to discuss Ozzy's life, the global reaction to his death, and their memories of growing up with Ozzy as a father and husband. When discussing the outpouring of condolences, including from celebrities and royalty, they wanted to highlight one voice message.
If for some reason the video didn't embed properly, this starts at around the 1:02:00 mark:
Hi Sharon, it's Donald Trump, and I just wanted to wish you the best and the family … Ozzy was amazing, he was an amazing guy. I met him a few times, and I want to tell you he was unique in every way and talented. So, I just wanted to wish you the best, and it's a tough thing," he added. "I know how close you were, and whatever I can do. Take care of yourself. Say hello to the family. Thanks, bye.
I'm sure Bluesky is having a meltdown and saying cruel things about Ozzy (if they aren't too distracted by the Democrats caving on the Schumer Shutdown). It was something Sharon Osbourne alluded to when discussing how divisive politics has become, as if she could guess the reaction of them playing this voicemail. But then she got personal — and emotional — discussing what this meant to her.
All I know is he's treated me with respect, your father with respect. He wanted nothing from us.. Melania, the same. Nothing. And they have been great. For him to take his time to do that for us … he doesn’t live in a bubble. He knows what's going on in the streets. He knows what is going on. And I can't say that for our prime minister. Again, for President Trump and Melania, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
As resident oldhead here at Louder with Crowder, Ozzy's passing hit me in a way most celebrity deaths don't. One of the major points in my life was a day in 1987 when a buddy of mine brought in a mixtape his neighbor gave him to the junior high school cafeteria. It was the sickest heavy metal mix you could imagine something making in 1987: Metallica, Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Anthrax... and Ozzy Osbourne.
In the 80s, instead of identifying as 217 different genders, we identified by the music we listened to. This was the day I became a metalhead. It was the opening guitar riff of "Crazy Train" and...hey, where'd this denim jacket come from?
Fast forward almost fourty years later, my 9-year-old niece's softball team plays "Crazy Train" as they take the field. It's become our thing because whenever I take her to games, we'll blast it in the parking lot with the windows open. She actually called me when she heard Ozzy died to make sure I was ok.
Not as cool as having the President of the United States call you, but still!
