Seaside, Oregon City Councilor Heidi Hoffman has said what many know is not true—that the rights of trans people are under attack. But according to her, that won’t stop her kid from leaving the country in protest of the Trump administration.

Don’t you love how she frames it as if she’s standing up for human rights? She dances around her point by criticizing those who avoid discussing leftist talking points, claiming they don’t care about equal rights. It’s unclear whether she’s deliberately trying to mislead the public or is genuinely that naive—but you can draw your own conclusions. And yes, both things can be true at the same time.

Where did her trans child even move to? After all, only in America was the country founded on the idea that all men are created equal—even the men who identify as women. There’s nothing the Trump administration can do to change that—not that he’s even trying, but you get the point.

As an elected official, she should be sticking to the truth. Yet clearly, her child does not even fully embrace who they are. That seems to be why she has no problem lying—she condones their trans identity as if that automatically casts her on the compassionate side of things.

And let me guess—she has zero problem with the fact that women’s sports are under attack. After all, you can’t grant special trans rights without doing so at the expense of women’s rights. Not that she likely cares, as she pretends her child doesn’t have the same freedoms as everyone else.

If she wants to convince the public that the rights of LGBTQ people are under attack, the best she could do is provide even the slightest bit of evidence—but she won’t, because it’s a lie. But what else is new?
