Republicans had another successful election night in the New York suburbs, taking control of a county on Long Island they haven't had in over twenty years. It built on the electoral success of 2022. If I were to grossly oversimplify the reason why, it's because New York City is a more effective boogeyman for the GOP than Trump is one for Democrats. People look at what the left has turned NYC into and decide they don't want it where they live. It's the way voting is supposed to work.

The latest NYC warning sign comes from this story, where a man was arrested for stopping a subway mugging because the man had a gun.

John Rote, the samaritan in question, witnessed a man attempting to mug a woman on a subway platform, stealing her purse and all her money. So he allegedly put out a gun and fired a few warning shots.

To be fair, firing warning shots on a subway platform? Not the smartest idea. But it's the way the city lept at the opportunity to identify Rote as the bad guy and NOT the man committing a crime against a woman that illustrates how progressive cities are warning signs for the rest of us out in Real America.

NYC transit official Richard Davey said in a statement:

"I want to be clear: we don’t tolerate this kind of conduct in NYC Transit, period."

They don't tolerate the gun. He didn't address the mugging. This is the same city where they straight up say f*ck your Bill of Rights as they send cops door to door to take your legal firearms Leftists want to claim are illegal.

"Once again cameras recorded a perpetrator, and we are grateful the NYPD made an arrest within hours. Thank goodness nobody was hurt here – but what occurred was outrageous, reckless, and unacceptable."

Again, the GUN was outrageous and unacceptable. No word on the violent crime Rote was attempting to stop.

Compare this to a September NYC subway incident where there wasn't a man with a firearm there to stop it. Instead, an elderly woman got beaten with her own cane for two minutes while bystanders did nothing.

As Mayor Eric Adams says, New York City has a brand. It's one that's toxic throughout the rest of the state.
