NFL's Nick Foles Returns from Injury with Passionate Message on Christ [VIDEO]

Brodigan
November 14, 2019

The talk of the NFL this weekend is going to focus on Colin Kapernick. Long story short he's getting a public workout. The only teams desperate enough for a quarterback are teams he'd turn down. Someone will say it's racist that he didn't get signed. Blah blah blah, yackity schmackity. I'd rather talk about Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles, who returns from injury this week. Foles is very public about being a Believer to this dismay of some douchebags.

A reporter asked if getting injured made him question his belief in God. Instead of calling out the reporter for being a smug dickhead (something I would do, as would probably President Trump), the returning quarterback gave a speech I think a lot of people could stand to hear right now.

If you make it about yourself, you're probably gonna go home at night, lay your head on your pillow and be very alone and sad, and then hopefully someday you can find that purpose in your life.

Our purpose isn't football, it's impacting people and my ministry happens to be the locker room, and I've been able still to get to know people, get to know these guys through an injury, though I may not be playing, that is difficult from a fleshly perspective but from a spiritual perspective, from my heart, I've been able to grow as a human being to where, I feel like I'm in a better situation here as a person than I was before.

My growing affection for the Jaguars notwithstanding (the Tony Khan/AEW connection, plus I need points from Westbrook), Foles' message is an incredibly important one, both for the people who look up to athletes, and because we could all use a reminder about what's important in life. And our importance in the grand scheme of things.

There's more to life than our own sh!t. How we interact with people, the things we share with our loved ones and the people around us, that's what life's about. If you don't want to assign that to Jesus's teachings, fine. Feel free to substitute whatever deity or deities you like. Just don't knock people who are happy with the One we've chosen.
