Michigan Prison Officers Protest New Strip-Search Policy Based On Gender Identity
Sex-based legal protections were not an easy battle for women. Or a quick one for that matter. But they were and still are very necessary due to the threat of sexual assault.
But because the denial of reality is so widespread and so coerced, nearly all sex-based rights have become impossible to enforce.
According to reports, Michigan prison officers are concerned by a new Department of Corrections policy in which female officers must perform strip searches on inmates in male prisons who say they don't want to be strip-searched by a man due to the way they “identify.”
Question: If someone is in in a men's prison, how are they female?
Kyle Kaminski, a spokesman for the department, said the policy that is now in effect change results from a federal audit into compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act.
"This is about complying with federal law," Kaminski said, according to Yahoo News. "We need to do cross-gender searches based on the gender identity of the prisoner, not their sex at birth or the facility where they're housed."
When activists deny empirical facts to coerce accommodation, everyday things become extremely dangerous to the most vulnerable people.
Cary Johnson, a corrections officer and recording secretary of the Michigan Corrections Organization union, said “she is shocked by both the change and by the lack of consultation before the new policy was announced,” according to the outlet.
Johnson said that many inmates are manipulative and flawed decisions may put the lives of officers at risk.
"I've heard prisoners saying, 'Yes, I'm going to identify as female so I can get one of these women alone,'" Johnson said.
According to the outlet, 350 state inmates housed in male prisons are recognized by the department as "transgender female," and only 30 inmates at Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility are "transgender male.”
It must be just a coincidence that way more men benefit from this law than women.
Two can play this game. At the very least, a female correctional officer that is asked to strip search a “female” with “cojones,” should refuse and identify as a male.
Jokes aside, I don’t have to spell it out for you. We all know what could go wrong when people are considered the gender they prefer to be or say they are.
The denial of sex is not only disingenuous, but it is very, very, dangerous.
Enshrining the radical lie that anyone can change sex at a moment's notice is a threat to all civil liberties and causes nothing more than harm to the most vulnerable people.
