Megyn Kelly spoke with Donald Trump and a large portion of the interview focused on COVID.
Kelly brought up his past comments on why he didn’t fire Fauci when he was director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. As Trump interjected, “I didn’t listen to him too much,” Kelly went on to say, “You actually gave him a presidential commendation before you left office. Wouldn’t you like a do-over on that?”
Trump denied knowing about the commendation, insisting, “I wouldn’t have done it.”
“I overrode many of the things he did. He was much less important to me,” he continued. “Now, with that all being said, he’s been there for years. He was respected. He lost a lot of respect because of Covid. But he was respected.
Although he hates to admit it, Trump did praise Fauci early on in the pandemic, even calling him a “television star” and a “good man.” Going as far as promoting him in a campaign ad in October.
But to his credit, he was also very critical of Fauci from questioning the seriousness of the disease, to stopping flights from China, adding more testing, and more. He also retweeted a post that said ‘#FireFauci’ in April 2020, also called him a “disaster” and said “People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots” in October 2020.
And don’t pretend Fauci was respected before smovid because that was nothing compared to his AIDS response.
Trump then claimed that he ‘let’ the governors run their states how they wanted and they were able to stay open rather than locking down residents.
Technically, that statement is not accurate since according to the US Constitution, the "powers not delegated to the United States Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
Trump of course loves to praise his Operation Warp Speed and rushed vaccines that saved 'many lives' but some people who have been vaccine-injured are not too happy about that statement since they can't sue.
But hey, at least he never mandated the Fauci Ouchie.
