Pro tip, and I say this as a former political consultant. If you are a candidate for Senate and reports start to come out that you have two kids with your second cousin, the last place you want to be is a Washington, D.C. restaurant. How one person can have as much luck as Sen. Susan Collins, I don't know. But Maine Democrats have gone from a guy with a Nazi tattoo who was allegedly fond of raping (Graham Platner denies those allegations), to Troy Jackson... who allegedly has kids with his cousin.

There is a degree of "whoa, if true" to this story. So just pretend I'm CNN and someone posted a story about a Republican candidate who had kids with his cousin.

NOTE: Jackson is Maine Democrat insiders' handpicked choice to replace Platner, after they were able to leak enough negative stories about Platner to the press that he was forced to drop out. It's not like voters ackshually were allowed to choose the replacement. After all, it's the Democrat Party. Had they had the opportunity, I'm assuming one of his Democrat opponents would have leaked the second cousin story to the press.

The intrepid Matthew Foldi of the Washington Reporter was the one with the wherewithal to grab a cameraman and see if Jackson had any dating advice.

In a sign of how insular and remote Allagash is, Democratic Senate candidate Troy Jackson has two children with his second cousin, Lana Pelletier, whose father is cousin to Jackson's mom.

Allagash tipsters and genealogical records confirm that Jackson’s longtime significant other, Lana Pelletier — his high school sweetheart and the mother of his two adult sons, Chace and Camden — is, in fact, his second cousin by blood.

The pair has been together for Jackson’s entire political career, stretching from his early days as a pro-gun, pro-life, conservative working-class rabble-rouser in the late 1990s and early 2000s through his rise to become a pro-gun-control, pro-late-term-abortion socialist state Senate president.

As of this writing, there has yet to be an official response from the Jackson campaign. Nor has there been a "GOP SEIZES on democrat who allegedly got it on with his cousin" response from the media. Though, to be fair, the media has been busy covering republicans SEIZING on migrants invading the Spanish border.

The Maine Senate is currently ranked a toss-up by RCP.
