Local Australian Govt. Shoots Rescue Dogs as COVID Safety Precaution. This is What Tyranny Looks Like!
In the hypothetical "if your dog and a stranger are drowning who would you save" conundrum that right-leaning super thinkers like to postulate in order to prove they're better people than you are, I happily admit I'd save my dog. You strangers need to learn how to swim. I have a lot of issues with the thought exercise, as it proves that what most of us value is innocence. "Stranger" could imply anything. Including an a-hole who'd shoot a dog. Turn the philosophical exercise into "your dog and a toddler are drowning, who would you save" and all of a sudden most of us are paddling for the kid. So all you stuffed shirted heartless twits can shove it up your back hole. Dogs represent innocence. They're largely shaped by people and how they're treated by their people. They're really incapable of making their own decisions. That's why the first reaction to hearing a local government in New South Wales, Australia ordering rescue dogs shot dead in order to prevent people from rescuing them and possibly spreading COVID, has a lot of good people all riled up. Myself included.
From the Sydney Morning Herald:
Several impounded dogs due to be rescued by a shelter have instead been shot dead by a rural council in NSW under its interpretation of COVID-19 restrictions, alarming animal activists and prompting a government probe.
Bourke Shire Council, in the state's north-west, killed the dogs to prevent volunteers at a Cobar-based animal shelter from travelling to pick up the animals last week, according to council's watchdog, the Office of Local Government.
Hat tip to TheBlaze for this article. They dug a bit and found that "according to the NSW Health website, there were no recent coronavirus cases in the town of Cobar, but there were fragments of COVID-19 detected in the area's sewage treatment plant."
I don't particularly care if COVID was spreading or not. To eliminate innocent beings in order to control human behavior, that's the bigger problem. What's also the bigger problem is the kind of people who made this call: the people in the positions of power to order it, and those who followed the orders. They're all in this NSW local government. It's absolutely tragic and disgusting that these people shot dead innocent dogs awaiting rescue. But what's far more disturbing is the realization these people are in power. Over the people in Australia. They feel like the ends justify the means. They were willing to shoot innocent animals. What else are they willing to do? What other excuse will they use to exercise power and control over their people? Those are the real questions to ask.
It's for this reason I'm reticent to blindly support police in reaction to Black Lives Matter. The police are the enforcement wing of local government. Some people become cops to protect and serve. Others become officers to control. The breakdown is often the same for government officials and it knows no borders. We're dealing with human behavior, which is universal. So yes, this story is from Australia, but it could be from anywhere. Including the United States.
Australia is just a couple of steps ahead of us. Last week, Australians protested the tyranny their government is shoving down their throats, and the government responded with brute strength.
Never give up your guns. Do not comply with light tyranny, it only leads to greater, more dangerous tyranny. This isn't the last disturbing news we'll receive about Australia or a government high on its own power over its own people. Despotism, control, ruling over people, that's largely the history of humanity. Fight back now or we'll lost our freedom forever.
