Joy Reid says a lot of dumb things. Part of the reason she has no shortage of foolish takes is that she has this habit of making things up. Or, in other words, lying, if you will. So, it is unclear if she is truly naive or deceiving people when she claims Republicans "only believe in reparations for white people,” and that if “they could go back and give the descendants of the Confederates reparations, they would.”

Speaking on her podcast, Reid This Reid That, which only has 71,000 followers, she said what she said.

According to Jacque Reid, Republicans gave reparations to Jan. 6 defendants.

“If they could go back and give the descendants of the Confederates reparations, they would. And this is basically them doing that,” Joy added. “A lot of white families are wealthy because of the reparations that they received after the Civil War.”

You might be wondering: How does anyone even listen to this nonsense? And to answer your question -- no one really does. The fact that this is the best these two can do to justify why skin color should dictate reparations is foolish.

Firstly, the premise is invalid. No one alive today was a slave. No one alive today owned a slave. We are talking about ancestral crimes, at best. Punishing people for things they had nothing to do with is not what you would call “moral” or legally sound. This is also why reparations have yet to be passed in the way people like Joy demand.

And the worst part is that she could not be more ungrateful for the opportunities this country has afforded her.

This is what makes it a bit of a stretch, to say the very least, when she has more money than most of the people she despises. If the historical repercussions of slavery are as bad as she claims, she would not be as privileged as she is. And the fact that she is somehow using her lack of evidence to bash Republicans by lying about reparations for White people is deeply deranged.
