Today is September 11th. If you have been on the internet for the last twenty-one years, you can expect to hear some horrible takes about 9/11. People have terrible options and X rewards them with ad revenue. But I'll be honest, it's somewhat surprising to hear the dumbest thing about 9/11 coming out of the White House. Even by WH standards, just... dude.

Joe Biden is the first president not to be in New York City for the memorial services. Doocy asks why that is:

"The analogy I was given is that twenty-two years after Pearl Harbor, US Presidents were not still going to visit Hawaii."

Even by usual White House incompetence, that is an excuse that at the very least you would hope the person knew how horrible the words coming out of their mouth sounded. But they drew the short straw and had to answer Doocy's question. "Eventually presidents were going to stop going, so Joe Biden might as well be the first."

Kamala Harris went. Even Joe Biden's presidential opponent Ron DeSantis went. The former JAG officer points to 9/11 as what changed his outlook on military service. He told an Iowa audience over the summer, "People weren’t being drafted to do it. It was basically just people that were raising their hands, and I felt an obligation to do my part, given the nation’s needs. So I raised my hand — I volunteered."

I'm not even saying there couldn't be a good excuse for the sitting president to miss the event. But this one ain't it, Skippy. Especially when we've seen what you've been up to for the past few days.

It can't be that his staff is afraid of him looking like a senile, puddingbrained old coot while there were cameras around. They haven't cared about that yet. The anniversary of 9/11 is an odd time to start.

I boil it down to two possible excuses. The first is Biden didn't want to see the result of his border crisis firsthand. The other is that no one at the White House gives a shit.

I'll leave it to you to determine which is worse.
