I'll be straight with you up front, I don't have an opinion or the bandwidth to have an opinion on the Bob Woodward book, Fear: Trump in the White House. My feeling about all of these books, even the ones about people I oppose politicially, is to take them with a grain of salt. There is, of course, an added wrinkle here where Trump interviewed with Woodward 17 times and Woodward has the recordings (obviously something he learned from Nixon). But I'll leave the defense/criticism of Trump to everyone else.

However, Twitchy highlighted something I feel needs to be amplified. The big controversy is over Trump "downplaying" the 'rona, even when he admitted he knew how bad it was going to be. This is the infamous March 19th interview.

Interesting thing about March. There were a lot of people "downplaying" the virus. Remember, this was when we only needed to pause for 14 days to bend the curve. Andrew Cuomo was only 25% a tyrant at this time. Everyone was taking things slow. So to used the specific word "downplay" as an attack on Trump seems peculiar. Especially now that we know it's EXACTLY the word Trump used earlier that day. To a reporter. Who is sympathetic to Democrats.

It could just be a coincidence. Or, Bob Woodward has some explaining to do. I'm gonna stick with option B.
