Homeowner Forced To Sleep On An Air Mattress And Share Residence With Squatters
One of the most insane concepts liberals have come up with in recent times is “Squatter's rights.” It’s unclear when private property rights no longer existed at the new expense of trespassing rights, but that is the reality many people face in leftist areas.
An Illinois homeowner was forced to sleep on an air mattress in his living room in hopes that his squatter infestation would eventually resolve, which it did not. Thus, he was forced to pay them over $4,000 in some deranged “cash for keys” incentive, despite them never signing a lease for the property in the first place.
WTF?! A homeowner was forced to move into his own house together with SQUATTERS after police told him that the squatters couldn't be removed under Illinois state law. pic.twitter.com/UaPyYF2cxe

According to the New York Post:
Marco Velazquez was gearing up to sell his property in the city’s South Side neighborhood when he received the troubling news from his realtor regarding the unexpected occupants.
Alleged squatter Shermaine C. Powell and her boyfriend, Codarro T. Dorsey, took refuge in the house and claimed to be the rightful owners of the property when the realtor confronted them.
Powell had been arrested weeks earlier after being accused of squatting in another South Side home.
The worst part about these cases is that police often treat them as if they are “civil matters.”
When confronted by Velazquez’s realtor and police officers, the sly couple showed an official-looking mortgage document, claiming they had every right to remain in the house. Officials could not find a copy of the mortgage in their records, but were limited on what they could do because of city laws, the outlet reported.
Under current Illinois law, police cannot remove any suspected squatters unless the homeowner goes through a months-long eviction process.
“The worst thing happened when police told me they couldn’t do anything. It needs to go to a civil court,” he said.
The intruders demanded $8,000 to leave the premises, despite previously claiming to own the place. And they settled for $4,000. However, given that this was not the first alleged incident where he took refuge in a house without permission, this is unlikely to be his last.
Even if the government wishes to help those facing troubles with gentrification and the rising cost of living, why must it be through de facto eminent domain? Whatever happened to this little thing called the “Fifth Amendment?” The fact that criminals are emboldened to take over property and then are subsequently rewarded for it with thousands of dollars is a scandal in itself.
When liberals claim they wish to make housing a human right, this is what that means. And by claiming this is intended to help out the little guy, while also destroying any chance for law-abiding citizens to enjoy their property, tells you all you need to know about their priorities.
While there is potential state legislation aimed at making trespassing illegal again, it has yet to come to fruition. Unfortunately, that means we can likely expect more of the same for now.- YouTubewww.youtube.com
