The Great Dictator Dic-Off Round Two: And The "Winner" Is...

On Tuesday we looked at history's 16 biggest dictators and narrowed it down to the top 8. Today’s show determined who is the biggest dic of all time.
The following dictators made the final eight: Ayatollah Khomeini, Mao Zedong, Joseph Stalin, Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, Papa Doc Duvalier, and Kim Jong Il.
By narrowing down the top eight, the following made the final four: Zedong, Stalin, Pot. and Duvalier.
Mao had a death count of up to 60-80 million victims.
“Some politicians, to this day, are actively inspired by Mao, they look to Mao for inspiration. This is still a real thing and can only be done under this cloak of darkness, where they hope that you don't really know a whole lot about Mao, and unfortunately, a lot of people under 30 don't,” Crowder said.
One of those politicians is Anita Dunn, who has served as the Senior Advisor to Biden since 2022. In 2009, she claimed that her two favorite “political philosophers are Mao Zedong and Mother Teresa.” Because obviously, the two are veeeeeery similar.
Stalin was responsible for about 20 million deaths.
“If you look at Stalin, he didn't even have feelings for his own people, it was about creating this utopia. The idea is the only thing that matters and human life is sort of inconsequential in achieving that idea. That's the difference between a sociopath who has no empathy, and a psychopath who has a very warped view of reality,” Crowder said.
Duvalier murdered as many as 60,000.
Pot murdered as much as 25 percent of Cambodia's population in less than 5 years, which is why he made the top two, along with Zedong, of course.
However, today, more political inspiration comes from Zedong than Pot.
"[Cambodia] moved away from that way of thinking as a country, whereas China has continued it and perpetuated it," Gerald A said.
One other major difference between the two is that Zedong lied and tried to shield the reality of his evil actions, at least to some extent. While Pot didn't try to do that, he just announced that "The Killing Fields" had begun. This could also be why we see some people condone Zedong and his political philosophy whereas, it's unheard of for people to do that with Pot.
That being said, besides Hitler, Pol Pot is officially the most evil dictator of all time.
