George Takei Tries to Blame Sexual Assault Allegations on Russia. Yes, Really...

Brodigan
November 13, 2017

George Takei has already tap danced his way out of the closet. Thus he couldn't pull a Kevin Spacey to excuse recent sexual misconduct allegations against him (see Man Accuses George Takei of Groping Him... While He Was Unconscious and Kevin Spacey Faces Harsh Backlash from LGBT Community Following Molestation Story). So instead, the actor has decided to blame... Russia!

No, seriously. The Russians are responsible.

Add "Russia did it" to the list of classic recent reactions to sex abuse allegations. (Tweet subsequently deleted) https://t.co/8wxwPygMtx

George Takei had an out-of-this-world explanation for why so many people were talking about the sexual assault claim against him.

In a now-deleted tweet, the “Star Trek” actor blamed Russian bots for spreading the story after Scott Brunton, an ex-model and actor, accused Takei of groping him in his Los Angeles condo in 1981.

The tweet, credited to SecuringDemocracy.org, showed Russian bot activity over the last 48 hours.

“Takei” had increased in popularity almost 20,000% and “George Takei” had jumped by more than 15,000%.

Turns out when you're famous and get accused of assault, people start Googling you way more often. And here I thought Takei was the kind of guy who liked being Googled.

Takei later came to his senses and deleted the tweet. I guess someone reminded him it's best to not say anything after he issues his denial.

But it looks like no one told him that the internet is forever and so many of us would revel in his stupidity. You know, what with him being an otherwise bitterly partisan doucheburrito and all that.

While we're on the subject:
