In the pursuit of being so painfully inclusive, one UK city council is being exclusive to the majority of people by classifying their Christmas decor as bigoted. And if that does not scream xenophobia, nothing does.

If all cultures are equal, why does Portsmouth City Council deny residents the right to honor this sacred holiday? That is something they likely can never answer, but it won't stop them from banning decor and threatening people with fines for the grave sin of wanting to embrace the holiday season.

According to the Daily Mail:

Liberal Democrat-run Portsmouth City Council sparked fury after housing officers wrote to tenants telling them festive decorations were not permitted on the outside of their flats.

Hundreds of letters were sent to residents, warning that wreaths and other decorations must be removed or they could face enforcement action, including potential charges for non-compliance.

The letters told tenants they 'must not leave items in the communal areas' in order to comply with the terms of their tenancy agreements.

When the left claims there is no war on Christmas, don't believe them. For far too long, liberals have demanded that you embrace misery in one of the joyous seasons of the year. That is likely because misery loves company, and a leftist politician will never turn down a power grab to mandate that.

Conservative Party Chairman Kevin Hollinrake told the Daily Mail: 'It is absolutely ridiculous that families are being threatened with fines simply for putting up a Christmas wreath.

'People should be free to celebrate Christmas without the Liberal Democrats playing Scrooge.

This should not be controversial, but in a move to fix things that are not real things, this City Council has decided they have the power to tell you how you can decorate your homes. There is no logic to this, besides the fact that they have too much power and time on their hands.

Responding to the criticism, the council defended the ban and insisted it was about safety, not Christmas.

A spokesperson said: 'We understand this can feel frustrating, especially at Christmas, but communal areas in our blocks of flats, including hallways, stairwells, and doors in enclosed spaces must be kept clear and fire doors must be untampered with for fire safety.

Oh, yeah. Real safety issues at hand. Artificial plants on a door pose a fire hazard. Get real.

'This is a government requirement, was agreed with residents, is part of tenancy agreements and helps keep escape routes unobstructed and prevents damage to fire doors which keep people safe.

You know, you can keep escape routes accessible without being such a scrooge. Something tells me this has nothing to do with public safety and more to do with leftist bigotry. What do you think?
