What will never be fully comprehensible is why there are so many people who hate everything about America yet still wish to live here. Not only that, but they seem determined to turn it into the countries they ran away from. Something does not add up.

Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud claims he “disavows the term melting pot” because his city is not a “soup where everything looks the same.” They are a “salad bowl,” if you will, where “the lettuce is lettuce, the tomatoes are tomatoes, and the cucumbers are cucumbers, and they all complement each other.”

Let’s break down exactly what he said.

Firstly, according to him, Dearborn is most certainly not a “melting pot,” because that would mean it consists of a society where diverse cultural backgrounds melt and blend together to form one uniform culture. In other words, it’s not like soup, since soup is a uniform substance with all ingredients mixed together.

This is why he prefers the “salad” metaphor, where ingredients are served together while still retaining their individuality to contribute to the broader community.

Did he get that analogy from Kamala Harris? Because even she’s not dumb enough to come up with that one.

Again, it begs the question: if you hate this country so much, why the heck are you even here? This is something they not only refuse to answer, but they also become enraged and label you as Islamophobic—or some other “phobic” or “ism”—just to dismiss your point.

And what’s so ironic about this is that he doesn’t seem very tolerant when someone disagrees with his salad choices.

Slowly but surely, America will be great once again, and it will have nothing to do with lettuce or tomatoes. The sooner he realizes that, the better off everyone will be. Until then, he can keep his salad—just hold the bacon bits.
