Since when does the court have the power to dictate who is and is not allowed to attend church? Last time I checked, there was this little thing called the “First Amendment." This is why it is bizarre and possibly unconstitutional that a court has demanded a Christian mom cease taking her daughter to church, as it is against the wishes of the father.

According to the New York Post:

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruled a Portland District Court judge was correct to give the then-11-year-old’s father, Matthew Bradeen, the power to decide whether his daughter could attend the Calvary Chapel in Westbrook, ME, the Maine Monitor reported.

Bradeen argued the church was a “dangerous and harmful environment” that had caused his daughter to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks after hearing the pastor’s teaching about the rapture, a belief that good Christians will ascend to heaven at the end of the world, leaving nonbelievers behind.

Obviously, the mother’s lawyer argued the court is violating her First and Fourteenth Amendments.

The court rejected Bickford’s claims that the 2024 order was hostile to her religion by referring to it as a “cult” in its published opinion.

Now imagine she was Muslim. Do you think the courts would be so quick to make such a demand? Or what if the mom was Christian and the dad Muslim; how would they rule then? If the courts had common sense, don't you think they would just stay out of it? The mom would take her daughter to church on her time, and the dad would keep her home on his time. Looks like common sense is not so common in Maine’s court system. And to call this an unconstitutional power grab by the court system does not even begin to describe this tyranny.
