CBS Anchor Suggests Retooling First Amendment to Silence Undesirable Speech
We all know those who lean left aren't too keen on people being free to say whatever they want. Lefties seem to think the First Amendment is in need of some rewrites. Just give a listen to this CBS anchor's suggestion about retooling free speech. By making it less free:
CBS anchor Anne-Marie Green openly advocated for the U.S. government to censor speech online in a recent segment, prompting the reporter she was interviewing to remind her about the First Amendment.
[Europe] protects speech,” she said. “These are countries where free speech is a value that is important to them, but they still and they don’t have a U.S. Constitution, but they still allow people to express themselves, and they have managed to hammer out some sort of stricter list of laws. So could the U.S. possibly use some of the other countries and what they have done as a framework and then kind of like Americanize it?”
Here's a hint for CBS anchor lady. If you say "I'm for free speech but," you're not really for free speech. The whole point of it being free is it applies across the board to everything. Not just speech you like.
Sure, there's a whole bunch of anti-vaxxers, terror-inducing douchenuggets, and fake newsers out there. The solution is to combat them with more speech, not less.
In a place which respects free speech, you're able to speak your mind unimpeded. No matter how loony or factually inaccurate your thoughts might be. This probably explains how the left is able to stay in business.
It's funny how mainstream media outlets hide behind the sacrosanct First Amendment when Trumpy calls them out on their dickery. Yet, when it comes to the Amendment Uno defending views they disagree with, suddenly the left thinks freedom of expression is up for debate. Double standards much?
