When a city mayor allows her citizens “space to destroy” then decides to limit the police, and the president jumps in with his helpful cops have a history of doing this rhetoric, crime goes up. If you’re surprised, your name might be Bernie Sanders.
The results? Baltimore’s crime now skyrockets past Detroit for the Most Violent City honor:
Baltimore – 189 homicides through July 31, almost 60% more than the same period last year. The city’s rate is now at a historic high based on its population – 30 slayings per 100,000 residents. (During the 1970s, there were higher homicide numbers in some years, but the city had between 200,000 and 250,000 more residents then.)
Detroit – 163 homicides through July 31, or 24 per 100,000 residents.
So the left, who loves to tout how much they care about people and how much they abhor violence, are enacting policies that create more of it. Consistently across all cities they control. Shocking? Hardly.
Detroit, Michigan was once a booming economy and the center of the American Auto industry, until a long line of democrat leadership began in 1962. Since then, Detroit has been the flagship of leftist policy and control. It’s their shining beacon of social welfare, a reined in police, and misery.
So residents of Baltimore? Behold, your future:
