Watch: Squad member attacks Walgreens, calls it racist for them to close stores instead of letting people rob from them
Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), the one with a very bald and very shiny head, said that Walgreens is racist because of leaving crime-ridden neighborhoods. And yes, it is safe to assume this has nothing to do with the demographics of the area and nearly everything to do with unprecedented levels of theft. But of course, she can’t let those facts get in the way of her demands for attention that she so desperately craves.
'Stop Divesting From Black And Brown Communities': Ayanna Pressley Hammers Recent Walgreens Closureswww.youtube.com
According to the Shore News Network:
“Representative Ayanna Pressley has publicly accused the pharmacy giant Walgreens of racial discrimination following its decision to close stores in neighborhoods grappling with high rates of theft. Pressley’s statement criticized the company’s actions, suggesting that the closures disproportionately affect communities of color.
Walgreens, a major player in the pharmacy industry, recently announced the closure of several stores due to what the company describes as ‘rampant theft.’ This decision, according to Pressley, targets areas with significant minority populations, leading to her accusation of racial bias.”
The thing is, Walgreens is not targeting anyone or any community. It’s the other way around. Walgreens is the one being targeted. The company also has no obligation to anyone to keep a store open, especially when elected officials show an extreme lack of respect for their business.
“In her statement, Pressley highlighted the impact of such closures on these communities, emphasizing the reduced access to essential services, including medications and healthcare products. She called for Walgreens to reconsider its decision and address the issue of theft in a manner that does not disadvantage communities of color.”
The lack of self-awareness is infuriating. Walgreens was doing well enough before progressives all across the country decided to make crime de facto legal. Subsequently, too many people have taken advantage of the five-finger discount. Quite frankly, the fact that elected officials lack so much common sense, that they cannot make the connection that their policies fuel this environment of rampant theft, is insulting to anyone with a brain.
It’s not Walgreen's job to create “access to essential services”. Having a Walgreens in your neighborhood is a privilege, not a right. And the thing about rights vs privileges is that privileges can be taken away. And this is what happens when you abuse your privileges; they get taken away.
If Pressley opened up a dictionary and looked up the word “racism” she would not find the words “Walgreens”, “drugstore” or “pharmacy” in that description. So I think the moral of the story is that she should order a dictionary from Amazon. Because clearly, she can’t get one at Walgreens anymore.
Anyway, Pressley has no one to blame but her asinine ideology that fuels crime-ridden communities.
