“Rape culture” is all the rage on the left. Rage as in they love to beat the drum of it, and also because it makes them enraged. Puns. Anyway, because “rape culture” is the new trendy thing, liberal celebrities want to latch on to it. Kind of like how they used to adopt babies from all over everywhere. Never mind that the two big “rape culture” stories are as real as Joe Biden’s hair, and most other stories make as much sense as Joe Biden’s words. No, showing that you care about “rape culture” demonstrates how open mindedly tolerent and pro-woman you are. Like Joe Biden.
Actual rape culture? Like the kind perpetrated by ISIS? Only Angelina Jolie seems to care…
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie warned on Tuesday that Islamic State was using rape as a weapon of war on a scale never seen before and called for greater action against those responsible.
Jolie, a special envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and active campaigner against the use of sexual violence in conflict, said Islamic State was using rape as a “policy” and urged a “very strong response”.
Thousands of women and girls have been abducted, raped and sold into sexual slavery by Islamic State since the militant group declared a caliphate across swathes of Syria and Iraq last summer, according to the United Nations and rights groups.
She called ISIS the most “aggressive terrorist group in the world today” and that they are using rape “as a centerpoint of their terror and their way of destroying communities and families.” And she’s absolutely right. Kudos, Ms. Jolie. Major kudos.
ISIS using rape in their culture of evil? Yes. Horny college frat guys? Not so much.
Maybe like the baby-from-other-countries trend, Jolie will be a trailblazer here. Madonna, you want to say a few words about ISIS? We’re all ears. Really, when other celebs want to chime in on real crimes, we’re listening.
‘Bama don’t care. Ain’t no ‘stremist Ismalasists (sp) anyways!
Judy, wtf are you talking about?? Please for a refreshing change, back you claims with evidence…and if you can’t, well then yell louder, and perhaps throw in some profain language to give yourself a little validity…this whole McCarthyism trend from the far right is getting dangerous….go ahead, feel free to google if you have to….dufus.
Oh, we actually used a big word today. We’ll just forget about the fact that the vast majority of those McCarthy era accusations have since been found to be accurate from numerous Soviet sources. But let’s not let facts get in the way of your manufactured outrage. We’d hate to have to resort to more than hearsay and populist rhetoric.
Kat – Look yourself in the eye in the mirror, I bet you can’t do it. That’s what happens when someone is consumed with lies, hate and dishonesty. Your post doesn’t have an ounce of truth in it. Try some truth and honesty for a change.
Kat Jenner wake up to reality not your liberal brainwashed views.
Kat, that is amazing. The McCarthyism rant. The most dangerous movement in America is the LEFT. The goal is to dismantle America. The game plan comes right out of the Marx manifest of how to attack America from within. You and the ignorant anal dwellers need a dose of honest reality. You ain’t got it! You are a dope!
This is not the first time rape has been a large part of war. The Japanese raped their way across China in the late 1930s. It took to atom bombs to stop them.
America also raped there way through Iraq. At least the Japanese and these other people rape women. Kinda f’d up but still understandable. Whats with Americans and raping dudes in Guantanamo and all these arab places????? That’s more than sick….
How is rape ever “understandable?” Why would rape of a female be more understandable than rape of a man? I’ll assume you are a heterosexual male. Rape is not committed because of attraction to the person being raped. Rape is a form of pure aggression and dominance. Are women somehow more deserving? Is that why it’s understandable? Or is it just that their often weaker bodies make them an easier target? Why would rape of a man be any more reprehensible? No matter the gender or country of origin, rape is an assault that scars the mind and the body. It is sick.
So rape is a “real” crime when Isis does it, but NOT when a college frat boy does it? Interesting…
No where in this piece is rape on campus dismissed. However, I do find it interesting that two states now require “affirmation of desire to have sex” and that one alcoholic beverage negates one ability to consent. I also find it interesting that males are singled out over females. It is possible for a woman to push intercourse and a male to feel obligated to perform. Our culture glamorizes sex while allowing for “buyer’s remorse” on the female side. It is difficult to reconcile the “make the most of a one night stand” articles on the cover of Cosmo with the “men have created a rape culture against women” scenario that is now a slogan.
dum dum not the issue shes talking about stealing girls selling them into slavery is the topic.if you dont want to get raped by a college boy stay sober
If you don’t want to be a to be guilty of second degree rape then don’t rape intoxicated college girls.
Look, I get annoyed myself at some of the excesses in feminist discussion. But this is what the idea of “rape culture” is all about. The fact that people like debby say things like this and people nod their heads because it sounds perfectly logical.
It is not the girl’s fault she got raped: Maybe it wouldn’t have happened if she’d stayed sober, but it most definitely wouldn’t have happened if the guy hadn’t been an effing *rapist*.
It’s called the “Not As Bad As” fallacy. NABA for short.
Frat boys are making a game of seducing freshmen girls? Well, it’s not a problem because OH LOOK OVER THERE AT THE ISIS RAPISTS!!!!!
Steven is distinguishing between “a problem” and “a cultural problem” and citing one example of a cultural problem taken to the extreme, then implying we shouldn’t have discussion about our less extreme local cultural problem because of that much more extreme cultural problem over there.
He’s also basically dismissing ‘rape culture’ as a thing in the US that we should just stop worrying about. He didn’t have to say it for that point to come across.
Pretty disgusting.
Saying that Angelina Jolie is the only one who cares is ridiculous. Journalists have been reporting on this for a while. The NY Times ran several well-researched investigative reports on this topic in mid August 2015.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/14/insider/kidnapping-and-sex-slavery-covering-isiss-religious-justification-for-rape.html
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/18/opinion/horrified-by-isis-use-of-sex-slaves.html
The article pertained to a celebrity actually coming out to condemn the practice. It is sad to say, but there are segments of our society that do not get their information news sources but from Entertainment Tonight. Jolie-Pitt making a statement might actually get more people interested in stopping this travesty.
And the media reporting on it is a “very strong response”?
no one said she was, she’s been involved with 3rd world countries for years,it’s what she’s about, for the last 20 years
Where’s Obama??? We need boots on the ground to crush this evil. We were winning when Barack made us leave.
@Durmel, No body said anything about rape not being a real crime. He’s talking about the left’s “rape culture” narrative as it applies here in the US, versus a real rape culture promulgated by ISIS. There is really no comparison as to which group is fostering an actual “rape culture”.
Her dad is conservative, she has been raised well.
she is with no party, shes just a good person
But raised right!!
Barack said Travon could be my son…………why not say any of these girls raped could be my daughters??? Because he’s a conflict coward!!! Pulling out our troops, dealing with Iran nukes, etc…. That’s what you get from a community organizer….empty talk.
Are you saying that because ISIS is raping women systematically there is no rape culture in the United States? That the two situations cannot exist at the same time? Rate is horrendous and allowing cultures to perpetuate the ideas that women are property to be violated is equally wrong. What ISIS is doing is horrific and unconscionable, but it doesn’t make rape okay in the States okay, either.
Steven is making a hair-splitting distinction between rape and the cultural influences that might make it more prevalent.
Sorry, Morgan. We are not allowed to talk about cultural forces here in the US that might have an effect on the incidence of rape right here where we live because somewhere else in the world there is a Real True Muslim Rape Culture.
Is it okay for ISIS and these other radicals to rape young boys? It is not only girls. Thought the boys are being kept and trained to be soldiers..
Is this “rape culture” why our children are being groomed to learn to enjoy sex in the Common Core homosexual agenda and challenge their parents because they are taught in school that it is alright to have sex or pleasure themselves?
I never liked rap it makes no sents it gets those who listen to it enraged it shpuld be banned if no pne listens to it ot will fade just like disco
