Watch: 60 Minutes interviews mother of what she calls gender-neutral 'Theybies' and it's terrifying
60 Minutes Australia did a whole segment on an American mother who decided to raise her child as a "theybie". Meaning, the mother pretended the doctor who delivered her child actually didn't have the ability to tell whether it was a boy or a girl. Only the child knows that, since it has nothing to do with biology. Apparently.
The mother insisted, "We're not trying to eliminate gender, we're trying to show how limitless gender can be." Which doesn't make any sense, because if you remove all boundaries and defining terms from something, then said thing ceases to exist. But I gave up trying to understand their math long ago.
“Parents are deliberately keeping the sex of their babies top secret because they say the children themselves should be free to decide who they are. That means the little ones are being raised not as baby boys or baby girls, but as ‘theybies’.

Watch #60Mins on @9Now”— 60 Minutes Australia (@60 Minutes Australia) 1680433253
The narrator explains, "Seven years ago, Kyl and her Australian husband Brent had their first baby, Zoomer."
Yes, the child's name is Zoomer. And yet that's the least horrible part of the story.
The mother says she didn't disclose Zoomer's "reproductive anatomy" to anyone who didn't need to know. The camera then cuts to a shot of her reading Zoomer a book about how gender is not based on biology, but what you feel inside. Various shots show the child with long hair wearing dresses, and at other times with short hair and dressed more masculine.
Oh, and Kyl, the mother, wrote a whole book about her experience called "Raising Them". But don't worry, no financial motive here. Not even a tiny one.
The craziest part comes at the end of the clip, when the Australian interviewer pushes back ever-so-slightly on Kyle's lunacy. She clarified that Kyle believes that if a child is born with a penis, it doesn't actually make them a boy. Kyle agreed. Then the interviewer asked whether this could be confusing for a little child. (Yes. Yes it could.)
But Kyle answered, with a heart-stopping smile on her face, "I think it's actually more confusing to make children think that the eight billion people on the planet neatly fit into one or two boxes."
Nope. Not more confusing. That's actually just the biological and Biblical truth of humanity. And kids wouldn't even question it if adults didn't give them a reason to. So why are adults giving them reason to?
