Mamdani announces eye-popping amount of taxpayer funds he’s investing in genital mutilation (aka gender affirming “care”)

Mayor Zohran Mamdani hosted a Pride event at City Hall. He did this not because it makes the lives of residents better off, but because he is beholden to leftist ideology. The insanity should have stopped there, but of course, in perfect leftist fashion, it certainly did not.
The city will now offer new gender-affirming care services. Again, to claim this does nothing beneficial to anyone would be an understatement.

These people are “too gay to function.”
Per Gay City News:
The Mamdani administration will offer new gender-affirming care services at a clinic in the Corona section of Queens, but the city is limiting that care to adults out of fear of blowback from the Trump administration, the city health commissioner said during a City Council hearing on June 5.
Health Commissioner Alister Martin, speaking during a budget hearing with the Committees on Finance, Health, Mental Health, and Substance Use and Hospitals, said the city has “a clinic that will be opening up in Corona which will offer gender-affirming hormone therapy for adults,” prompting a question from out Queens Councilmember Tiffany Cabán, who is part of the City Council’s LGBTQIA+ Caucus and previously co-chaired it.
Martin, in response, made it clear that the city fears repercussions from the Trump administration, but he indicated “there’s much more to come on this.”
In other words, if the city could, it most definitely would offer these services to trans-identified youth. That tells you all you need to know, which is that nothing these people do is rooted in morality.
New York City is one of the most expensive places to live in the world. And last time I checked, it was not the job of the municipal government to fund medically unnecessary medical interventions, especially when the premise is rooted in delusion. Nonetheless, they did what they did, and to claim this “puts them on the wrong side of history” would be putting it lightly.
