Look, California has 99 problems, and the LAST thing it needs is MORE votes. And while some may argue the state already has some of the least secure elections in the country, here comes governor candidate Eric Swalwell declaring a new vote-by-phone initiative.
You see, according to Swalwell, we need to “max out democracy.” It does not matter if those votes are nearly impossible to verify, since the state doesn’t even require identification to vote — as long as access is expanded to everyone and their grandmas.
According to Fox News:
Reacting to Michaelson's surprised expression, Swalwell continued, "Yeah. If we can do our taxes, make our healthcare appointments, you know, essentially do your banking online, you should be able to vote by phone. Make it safe. Make it secure, but it‘s actually already happening all over the United States."
How does one make a touch‑type vote “secure”? That is unclear — precisely because you can’t.
Trump says the only reason Gavin Newsom signed a bill to ban voter ID from being required in California's elections is because Democrats want to CHEAT

This is on top of the fact that everyone gets a mail-in ballot, whether they want one or not, combined with the fact that it’s illegal to require voter ID. Together, this will only strengthen the Democratic stronghold — and that’s before even considering Proposition 50.
California just passed Prop 50 which takes House seats by redistricting.
It rejects the non-partisan commission drawing district lines.
But in this same vote, 92% of voters said a non-partisan commission should draw district lines.

You know, they wouldn’t be doing this if they believed they could win elections the old-fashioned way. But these people rely on naive, lazy voters. If you don’t care enough to go down to the 50 million polling stations or even drive up and drop off your ballot, you most certainly have no business voting in elections. But that’s just my two cents — you can draw whatever conclusion you wish.
End gerrymandering nationwide. Require voter ID nationwide. That is the simple formula for restoring trust in the democratic process that has broad support with Americans of all political leanings. pic.twitter.com/WI4f1xFYIX

California has a lot of problems, and this adds to the 50 millionth item on the list of what not to do. And don’t think this is just a Golden State issue — as goes California, so goes the rest of the country. But what else is new?
