The 'OK' Hand Gesture is Officially Hate Speech, According to the ADL
One of the dumbest leftist overreactions is over the OK symbol. Which many claim is hate speech. In fairness, everything seems to be hate speech these days (see Facebook Launches ‘Hate Speech’ Checker and Ben Sasse Asks Mark Zuckerberg to Define “Hate Speech.” It Doesn’t Go Well.). Now, thanks to the Anti-Defamation League, this simple hand gesture to acknowledge you heard what someone said, to describe how you are feeling, of if you're playing the "made you look" game is OFFICIALLY a symbol of hate.
The OK hand gesture and its link to white nationalism began as a hoax cooked up by users of the website 4chan, who falsely linked it to white supremacy, according to the ADL.It was meant to bait the media or people with liberal ideals to overreact, ADL experts say, and therefore look ridiculous for condemning such an innocuous sign.
Mission accomplished, 4chan. Now watch as the ADL is about to run into the room screaming "LEEEEEROY JENKINS!"
But in 2019, the sign was adopted by some white nationalists."At least some white supremacists seem to have abandoned the ironic or satiric intent behind the original trolling campaign and used the symbol as a sincere expression of white supremacy," the ADL posted in its report.
"At least some." How many is that? Five?
Already there aren't a whole lot of white supremacists to start with. In fact, has anyone tallied numbers of which there's more of, drag queens or white supremacists? I know the media thinks those who wish they were galavanting in white pointy hoods all day are legion. But the reality is probably nowhere close to the hype.
All of this hoopla is over a hand gesture. Putting pointer finger to thumb tip is now "hate speech" when it's not even speech or hateful. So what we've gathered from all of this is the ADL, despite what the ADL thinks of itself, is a festering pile of burning dog dung identifying as a group of tribal elders who know better than you. When really, it's just the burning pile dog dung.
Dollars to donuts the use of the OK hand gesture will only increase in reaction to the ADL's intellectual temper tantrum.
