Ted Cruz Weighs in on 'Total Mess' of Syria, Calls out Obama Policies, Trump's Response
This morning you likely woke up to tons of talk over the Syria debacle. Some have praised Trump's backbone while others have denounced his getting involved in Syria's crapnado. But of all the points that have been made, Ted Cruz managed to ring truest on America's Newsroom.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said President Trump has been left with a "total mess" in Syria by the inaction of former President Barack Obama against the Assad regime.
"The honest answer is there's no good answer to Syria right now after eight years of Obama's broken red lines and weakness. We've seen Syria turned into a war zone that has resulted in hundreds of thousands of refugees [and] chemical weapons [use]," said Cruz...
The truth is that this situation had been fermenting under years of Obama twiddling his thumbs (see Syrian Chemical Attack Survivor Blasts Obama's Inaction, Begs Trump for Help...). Then it finally reached a fever pitch in 2011 with the start of the Syrian Civil War... At which nary an eyelash was batted.
Six years and a couple chemical attacks later, we've been made to look like spineless wimplings. So the point Cruz is making here? Things were already bad in Syria (see OBAMA FOREIGN POLICY: US Commandos Flee From 'Ally' Free Syrian Army...). Hence all the people running away from it. As such, there's no clear cut solution. No "fix it" button.
Trump inherited this Middle Eastern dumpster fire from Obama. Moving forward, let's hold Trump accountable for the actions he takes in regards to it, but forget not the wimpishness with which Obama once handled Syria. As speculations and eye-popping headlines will abound, only time will tell if Trump's choices are effective. Meanwhile, we'll keep you updated...
