This is what happens when you glorify mental illness.

A self-identified trans mermaid — who, incidentally, was born with male anatomy — is making waves in Sweden after blasting a public pool for having the audacity to ask him to use the men’s dressing room.

There was a time when such behavior would’ve landed someone in the asylum, but those days are long gone. Now, stories like this aren’t fiction — they’re news.

According to Reduxx:

A trans-identified male in Linköping, Sweden, filed a complaint with the country’s Discrimination Ombudsman after being told he was not allowed to use the women’s changing room at the Tinnerbäcksbadet swimming pool. The man, known only as “Amy,” is refusing to use the “gender neutral” changing stalls available, insisting he should be allowed to change with women.

Incredible. The pool even tried to appease people like this — but there’s no satisfying someone who demands special rights at the expense of equality. Because that’s exactly what happens when so-called “trans mermaid rights” become a thing: you end up granting special treatment while sacrificing safety and fairness for everyone else.

Amy was sympathetically profiled by Sweden’s public broadcaster SVT, and reported that he began swimming at Tinnerbäcksbadet about a year ago after buying a mermaid tail. The facility’s website states that it offers “mermaid” swimming classes using similar accessories for those aged “7 and older.”

The fact that a major news outlet not only covered this story but also presented it as though it were comparable to racial segregation is both absurd and unsurprising.

We now live in an era where any identity, no matter how absurd or detached from reality, must be glorified. A society cannot function when make-believe is treated as fact — and the real scandal is that questioning this has become controversial.

Trans women are men, and the sooner this self-described mermaid realizes that, the better off he will be.
