CA gov candidate triples down on trans support, says feelings of boys who think they're girls matter more than your daughter's

According to California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer, if you disagree with the claim that males should have the right to compete against females in sports, then you are the problem.
"There are more important things than whether you start on your high school basketball team, and that is standing up for people who are under threat of death."
He's saying the feelings of men are more important than the physical safety of girls.

Per Fox News:
"I’m totally in favor of trans athletes in high school," Steyer told "I've Had It" podcast host Jennifer Welch.
"When you understand the vulnerability, the stress, the danger of being a trans kid, and you understand almost half of them try to commit suicide, then you think, 'We’re gonna punish those kids, we’re gonna cut them off from team sport.' It’s like, no we’re not."
The problem with this is that he implies that if you disagree with him, you are an evil person. But the even bigger issue is that he is being disingenuous, to say the very least, in the way he breaks the “problem” down.
Firstly, he implies that Conservatives are trying to ban trans people from sports altogether. It is a lie. No one is banning anything from anyone. The only thing people have a problem with is males stealing spots and titles away from women. This is why the other side wants to bar males from the female division. This has nothing to do with trans kids and their right to play sports, despite how he phrases it.
Secondly, he doubles down on the lie by attempting to gaslight the public as if this is a matter of life and death. According to him, if males do not invade the women's division and if women do not give up the titles they fought so hard for, then you are causing trans kids to commit suicide. Not only is this a lie, but it is totally deranged and shifts the true extent of the suicide epidemic onto people who have nothing to do with it. That is evil.
Thirdly, he is just flat out lying. He wants to come off as compassionate, but all he is doing is creating a problem that does not exist, while he mocks women for wanting to uphold the fairness of the game, as he advocates for the destruction of female sports. That is wrong, and it is totally deranged that he believes this puts him on the right side of history.
To call this the most narcissistic level of gaslighting would be an understatement.
