If you’ve spent any time online over the past 48 hours, you may have noticed that Starbucks just dropped a new seasonal bear cup. For the TikTok PSL girlies, there’s truly nothing more exciting than that. For you? It’s probably just another overpriced cup. Honestly, both opinions are fair. Still, the girlies are not playing around this time — and that’s exactly why Starbucks has had to issue an apology after disappointing more fans than they pleased.
According to People:
Starbucks’ new Bearista Cold Cup — a bear-shaped, 20-ounce holiday tumbler — sold out almost instantly after its Nov. 6 release, sparking frustration among fans over limited stock.
Customers took to social media to complain that some stores only received one or two cups, with some alleging employees bought them before doors opened.
Starbucks said demand “exceeded expectations,” apologized for shortages, and promised more holiday merchandise to come alongside its 2025 holiday drink lineup.
Oh, deer. That does sound upsetting… doesn’t it?
“The excitement for our merchandise exceeded even our biggest expectations and despite shipping more Bearista cups to coffeehouses than almost any other merchandise item this holiday season, the Bearista cup and some other items sold out fast,” Starbucks said. “We understand many customers were excited about the Bearista cup and apologize for the disappointment this may have caused.”
As many of you reading this would probably agree, it’s really not that deep. But to the Starbucks girlies, it’s so much more than just a bear coffee cup. Sure, someone should probably let them know there are about 500 different bear cups on Amazon—but apparently, it’s just not the same. You might think this season is supposed to be the season to be jolly, but it’s not off to the best start for some Starbucks connoisseurs. Unfortunately for them, that sounds like a personal problem.
