Hilarious Video Mocks Woke Reaction to Bill Pullman's ‘Independence Day’ Speech
Kudos to College Humor for this. The Independence Day sequel releases next Monday, and undoubtedly you're going to have Facebook friends sharing that famous Bill Pullman speech from that HIGHLY overrated original Independence Day movie.
Well, here's a reimagining of it if it was given today and people had the internet to complain about it...
1996 was a long time ago, and the world has changed pretty dramatically in those 20 years. The internet was still a baby, social media didn’t exist and we weren’t quite so sensitive about things.College Humor imagines how Bill Pullman’s famous speech from “Independence Day” would go over today, with the politics-driven, 24-hour news cycle and a hyper-reactionary internet.
We think the president should spend less time talkin' and more time doin' #presidentshitmore
It feels good to laugh. Then cry because this is spot on accurate on how people would react to a President giving the most patriotic speech of all time. In a fictional movie. In which he wants to destroy aliens invading planet Earth. Because yes, even if you remember that movie, there were still mobs of nitwits who welcomed the aliens to Earth. Art imitates leftists.
So they got that part right.
Also... I can't believe it's been twenty years since Independence Day. Looking at how things are going on our planet, one wonders if it wasn't actually a documentary, and the SJWs were the aliens. Who kicked Earth's ass.
I weep for humanity.
