Surprise. Surprise. Surprise. A nonprofit on Skid Row is hanging out meth pipes and other drug paraphernalia, and your tax dollars are funding it. But what else is new?

According to City Journal:

As governor of California, Gavin Newsom has repeatedly supported “harm reduction” policies, which enable drug use in the name of making it “safer.” He created the state’s Harm Reduction Initiative, which funded “syringe services programs” for “people who inject and smoke fentanyl and/or methamphetamines.” His Department of Public Health has endorsed distributing syringes, glass pipes, and “[c]ontainers for mixing injectable drugs” to drug users. Newsom argued earlier this year that harm-reduction tactics “increase the like­li­hood of people enter­ing substance use treat­ment.”

How do you "reduce harm” when the very policies are contributing to drug addiction and degeneracy? How does California expect to clean the homeless off the street if they are enabling their addiction, rather than spending those funds on getting them treatment? And the fact that no one arrests these people for openly smoking crack in public tells you all you need to know.

But do California’s harm-reduction programs encourage addicts to enter treatment? We visited the Skid Row Care Campus, a homeless-services site in Los Angeles County, to witness “harm reduction” in action. We discovered that, instead of directing addicts to get clean, the taxpayer-funded program doles out free paraphernalia, enabling addicts to get high—no questions asked.

The fact that the left pretends to be on the compassionate side of history is deeply disingenuous. If they truly cared about these homeless drug addicts, the state, and public safety, they would never implement such a program. The problem is that they do not care about any of that. They don't care about homeless people, drug addicts, public safety, or clean streets. Nope. Their actions prove otherwise, and it is totally deranged that they claim you are the problem for demanding safe streets, when they are the ones not only creating the problem, but fueling it to the greatest extent possible. What a disgrace.
