According to Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, investigating alleged daycare fraud is not about investigating fraud so much as it is about dividing the community and going after people based on national origin. The problem with this is that it is not true. Investigating fraud is just that, and the fact she finds this controversial tells you all you need to know.

When asked if the city had any plans to investigate fraud claims in taxpayer-funded programs, including daycares, she said “no.” She implied that this is because the people who are cornered with fraud actually just want to go after Somalis and that people are instilling fear in their communities.

Call me crazy, but common sense would tell you the only ones who should be fearful of this are those actually committing fraud. Legitimate daycares should not care less, but the mayor cares more about shielding alleged fraudsters than about cracking down on fraud. It is truly incredible.

Do you think that announcing to the world that authorities won't be investigating fraud creates a culture where more fraud is committed? Methinks yes, but draw your own conclusions.

In an interview with KOMO News, Wilson was asked if she had authorized the Seattle Police Department or the city's Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs to investigate fraud charges involving daycare providers, particularly those in Somali and other immigrant communities. The mayor responded: "No."

"This whole issue is not really about fraud," said Wilson. "It's about dividing and conquering. It's about making an immigrant community a target. There's no reason to assume based on the identity of a daycare operator that their small business is doing anything wrong."

Again, this tells you all you need to know. And how pathetic of her to make up some lie about “dividing and conquering.” Auditing or ensuring funds are going to their intended purpose should be mandatory and at the very least, not controversial. The fact that she makes YOU, the American people, the problem, is unacceptable.

She added that "it's problematic to have random people showing up to daycares" and emphasized that "the fear in the Somali community is real" and "the fear in immigrant communities are real," saying her administration is "taking that very seriously."

The people of Seattle deserve far better than this leftist buffoon, and to call this woman pathetic would be an understatement.
