Let's begin with a simple question.

It's a toughie. What we do know for sure is that the media has largely ignored 2017's economic successes. Much like Chris Christie ignores his doctor's cholesterol warnings. As the year draws to a close, lets reflect on the market's biggest financial booms. And the media's biggest, bitterest snubbing of said booms.

All three network newscasts ignored the news that the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 5,000 points in a year for the first time in history. CBS This Morning did acknowledge that historic event on Dec. 19, briefly.

But that record wasn't the only one media outlets -- especially the three broadcast networks censored. Between the Trump inauguration and Aug. 1, the Dow Jones industrial Average set 31 record closing highs. But the evening shows ignored the records on the days they happened a whopping 80 percent of the time.

The shows also minimized the "historic" Wall Street gains, undermined them with phrases like "small gain" and complained that the market "may not reflect" the overall economy.

Sounds like someone's bitter. Maybe just hangry and in need of a Snickers. Either way, these are only a few of the successes pushed to the wayside. The list continues:

Strong GDP growth estimates and good job reports were also downplayed or ignored this year.  ABC World News Tonight with David Muir spent half the time on jobs reports as CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News. World News Tonight skipped several of those Friday jobs reports altogether.

Those three evening news shows combined spent just 52 seconds on 2017 GDP estimates the nights they were released. Sometimes those evening news programs skipped the government announcement entirely.

You'd think the media would be happy for America. Economic successes are worth celebrating. Time to break out the bubbly, patriots. Alas, such happiness is unacceptable to the left (see Leftists Protest Election of Donald Trump by Screaming at the Clouds). Nothing can be good as long as Trump's posterior is sat within the Oval Office. Nothing!

Leftists have zero problem with ignoring reality in order to maintain their Trump-is-the-worst-ever narrative. Yes, there are valid criticisms to be leveled at President Trump. And his hairdresser. But progressive heads are spinning trying to cover up any success happening under his administration.

I can't wait to see the triggering 2018 brings.
