Protests Erupt After Officer Shoots a Man. Except He Chased the Cop with a Knife!
No one can chase anyone else with knife. Unless they're running away with butter, and the warm bread has just popped out of the oven. That's just abuse. Other than that, no exceptions. Yet based on the protests following the what looks to be a justified shooting, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe after years of "white oppression" a "man of color" who's terrorizing his family, is totally free to skip about town running after people waving large knives. That's reportedly what happened in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Officers responded to a call of a man, with a knife, terrorizing his family. Body cam footage shows the insanity unfold:
Officer Involved Shooting 300 blk. Laurel St. Body Camera Video 9/13/2020youtu.be
On September 13, 2020, at approximately 4:13 PM, Lancaster County-Wide Communications received a 911 call for a domestic in the 300 block of Laurel Street in Lancaster City. The caller related that her brother was reportedly becoming aggressive with his mother and was attempting to break into her house. Several officers from the Lancaster City Bureau of Police responded to the call and the first officer arrived at 4:24 pm. The first officer on the scene walked to the front of the residence and made contact with a woman, who was identified as a family member. A male subject then exited the front door of the residence and began chasing the officer. Preliminary information and body worn camera footage indicates that the male subject had a knife in his right hand as he was chasing the officer. The officer fired several shots from his firearm, striking the subject. The subject, identified as 27 year old Lancaster man, did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
That's a good shoot. I know I'm not an expert at police protocol and all, but I am an expert in identifying a scary person charging after someone else with the clear intent to do harm, what with the rather large pointy object pointing skyward, crazy eyes in his cranium. How have I deemed myself such an expert? Vision.
Prior to the release of the body cam footage, the people mostly peacefully rioted the shooting. Waiting for facts? Please. When there are buildings to destroy and tantrums to throw, who has time for facts?
Those photos look "mostly peaceful."
Except this one doesn't:
But the "evidence" of broken glass would suggest maybe not so much:
I don't know what these mostly peaceful protestors would do if someone was running at them with a knife. But I have a feeling they wouldn't sit cross legged on the floor and offer affirmations.
These riots never should've started, but now they're really passed their expiration dates. The sick side of me would like to see these rioters chased with knives to gauge how they'd react. I'm not encouraging violence, y'all. I just wonder how these "mostly peaceful" protesters think the officer should've responded. Has anyone asked them?
