Mass shootings have always been and will always be one of the left's favorite events. They love mass shootings because it allows them to inch closer and closer to taking all of your guns, thereby eliminating your ability to defend yourself when they finally decide to go full authoritarian on the country. And the guns will always be the problem. Not mental illness or fatherlessness. In fact, this therapist says not only is it the guns' fault, it's also the patriarchy's fault! It's definitely NOT mental illness.

Okay, no. The patriarchy is to blame only insofar as there isn't enough of it anymore. Nearly all mass shooters grow up without fathers or in situations with poor male role models. Second, it's difficult to not place at least some of the blame on mental illness as each and every one of these people demonstrates severe mental and emotional issues.

This isn't to say mental illness automatically means that someone is going to be a violent mass murderer. I've been extremely open about my own mental health issues on this site, and I'm not about to do anything of the sort, and neither are millions of other people who deal with their issues in the proper fashion. But to say unaddressed mental illness isn't a huge issue in need of addressing to curb the prevalence of mass shootings is ignorance of the highest order. And to blame men as a whole for this phenomenon is moronic.

If men were the issue--as in men in general--there would be a lot more shootings. I mean a helluva lot more.

And this fruitcake says pointing out that mental health is an issue distracts from the problem of gun ownership. Bud, if gun ownership were the issue, again, we'd have far more shootings of this sort.
