Watch: East Palestine water appears to be heavily contaminated as govt officials SWEAR it's safe to drink
Hopefully, by now you're aware of what's going on in East Palestine, Ohio. There was very little mainstream coverage of the event, and at least one national reporter was actually arrested trying to cover it. Not exactly a great look.
On February 8th, the Ohio and Pennsylvania Governors declared the area, which is on the border of the two states, safe for residents to return to. They reportedly tested the air and water quality and claimed all is well.
The residents, however, are questioning this, as some claim their animals are suddenly dropping dead, and the river is full of belly-up, dead fish. The whole thing is starting to seem like a cover-up.
This morning, Ohio officials declared the contaminants entered the Ohio River, which provides drinking water to some 5 million people. Despite killing all the fish, officials still claim the water is safe to drink. Not sure that's a gamble I'd want to take...
\u201cOhio officials said the toxic chemicals released after the train crash on the outskirts of East Palestine have entered the Ohio River. Contaminants from the derailed cars were toxic to fish, but officials say drinking water has remained protected. https://t.co/LVPmxsYdAq\u201d— The Associated Press (@The Associated Press) 1676468864

The TikTok account "What's In My Water" tested contaminated water from about two miles outside the crash, and compared it to a clean sample. The contaminated water appears misty in the container. When he dipped the test strip into the contaminated water, the colors were bleached and began leaking out. He concluded, "The contaminated water is bleaching all the colors out of these [testing] squares... There is obviously something in this water in large quantity that is being hidden."
His TikTok account appears to have since been removed.

The more information that comes out, the more it seems like they really just Chernobyl'd Ohio. Not to mention, the Ohio River flows into the Mississippi. How much of the water supply will be impacted? No one seems to want to answer that question. Might be a good time to invest in a water filter.
