Not only does the City of Oakland refuse to clean up the streets by allowing the zombie apocalypse of homeless people to continue, but they would like to reward the degenerates contributing to the demise of the city.

The City of Oakland is launching a pilot program where they plan to pay homeless people to clean up the mess they made. While to most sensible people, this is basic manners, city officials believe homeless drug addicts should be compensated for this. Do you need any more evidence that the left hates its own citizens?

Per the New York Post:

A Bay Area city plans to embark on a novel way to tidy up homeless encampments as California desperately tries to tackle its homelessness crisis — by paying the homeless to clean up after themselves.

I just cannot believe this is a legitimate news story. Society has officially reached a new low.

Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee teased to ABC7 that she will announce a pilot program in which homeless residents would be paid to clean areas around encampments, similar to a program in Oregon.

“We have to move in a new way to make sure every neighborhood is clean and safe and my goal is to make Oakland the cleanest, safest city in the country,” Lee said.

Rather than do the bare minimum of their job descriptions, which is to uphold public safety, they would much rather waste more money to make the problem worse. The city does realize that the cash will very likely be spent on drugs, right? They should have just announced they will continue to fund these people's drug addictions because that is what they are de facto doing.

“I established the Office of Homeless Solutions so we’re looking at out-of-the-box kind of solutions that are working in other areas to try to put pilots here in our own city to see if it works,” she added.

Or they could just enforce a no-camping ordinance and help these people get help. That would be a far more "compassionate" approach for everyone involved. The problem with this is that the left does not actually want to solve the problem, because if they did, they would. They have more than enough means and funds to clean up the streets, but sure, let them pretend to care by paying for people to clean up their own mess. These people are insane.
