It is, unfortunately, not a shocker for anyone knowing even the slightest bit about the New York City justice system, or lack thereof, that a woman has been sentenced to a measly two years in prison for intentionally ramming her car into an officer.
That is not an assumption; she has no shame in her unhinged game, as she told investors she did what she did solely because she refused to wait five seconds for him to finish walking through the crosswalk.
A woman who screamed “F–k these cops” after purposely running down a police officer and breaking his leg with her car got “not nearly enough” time in prison at her sentencing Wednesday, a cop union said.
Sahara Dula, 25, was sentenced two years behind bars after she admitted to intentionally plowing over an NYPD cop while driving high into oncoming traffic on the Upper East Side in January 2024.
Officers were working on investigating a nearby robbery when Dula decided to drive on the wrong side of the road. According to reports, she was driving under the influence of the "Devil's Lettuce". In the dashcam, you could hear someone yell “be careful” before she decided she had zero patience to wait several seconds for the officer to finish crossing the street.
She subsequently pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, despite many assuming she committed the assault with a deadly weapon, and she could have nearly killed the man. And if I did not know any better, I would say this is second-degree attempted murder, but I do know better, and I am not a legal expert, so I most certainly will not be saying that.
“The sentence is not nearly enough. This individual tried to run down a New York City police officer. She could have killed him,” railed Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry.
“We’re glad she is going behind bars instead of walking free, but our justice system needs to send a message that there will be zero leniency for attacks on police officers.”
If you had any faith left in the NYC justice system, I am sure this destroyed all of that. Because an innocent man could have lost his life, and the woman responsible had no problem admitting it. And to think I assumed they increase penalties for crimes against law enforcement officers. Weird. Very Weird.
