The saga of "utopia gone wrong" continues. The primary propaganda publishers of North Korea just called for the death of President Trump. Not because he has threatened nuclear war. No, no, North Korea is upset because Trump was a big meanie pants.
Trump and Kim have rubbed tummies in juvenile exchanges before, both failing at the ever-challenging task of adulting, but this is our favorite sucker punch thus far:
North Korea’s state media has criticised Donald Trump for insulting leader Kim Jong-Un, saying the US president deserved the death penalty and calling him a coward for cancelling a visit to the inter-Korean border. An editorial in the ruling party newspaper Rodong Sinmun focused its anger on Trump’s visit to South Korea last week, during which he denounced the North’s “cruel dictatorship” in a speech to legislators in Seoul.
“The worst crime for which he can never be pardoned is that he dared [to] malignantly hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership,” the editorial said.
“He should know that he is just a hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people,” it added.
North Korea is the only country with journalists more biased than America's. Which is saying something.
Trump’s helicopter taking him to the DMZ had turned back after just five minutes due to bad weather – an explanation the newspaper dismissed.“It wasn’t the weather,” the editorial said: “He was just too scared to face the glaring eyes of our troops.”
Seriously, the trash talk is embarrassing.
Reminder: these are global powers at play. Long gone are the days of "We've nothing to fear but fear itself." Now it's "He tweeted mean things, DEATH!" or "He called me old! I'm not going to his birthday party!" While some people find this exchange amusing (because it is) what isn't amusing is that it's not on a playground. Both of these people have access to great power. Nuclear weapons. Influence.
Someone get them a sandbox.
Our politics, ladies and gentlemen. Yay.
