Norm MacDonald's New Netflix Show Will Be Different. Here's Why...
Norm MacDonald is debuting a new show on Netflix this week, Norm MacDonald Has a Show. E-I-E-I-O. I literally just got that while I was writing this! Take a look at the trailer:
There's going to be one key difference between Norm's show and most other talk shows. He's not going to go out of his way to be a leftist douche.
I decided very early on there can be nothing topical. Ever since Jon Stewart, late-night hosts have all been forced to become political pundits, you know?
Jon Stewart also at least remembered to be funny most of the time. People pretending to be Stewart, not so much (see Michelle Wolf Celebrates Abortion, Compares to Classic 80s Movie and Samantha Bee Getting “Social Change” Award After Vile Ivanka Attack).
Even down to Jimmy Fallon. And he is derided for his treatment of Donald Trump. [Fallon] is just all about fun and silliness. That's what his audience wants. And then to be maligned for quote-unquote humanizing Trump. Funny, I thought he was a human. If you have the nominee to be president on your show and he is your guest, then he is your guest. Don't have him on the show if you don't want him.
A comedy show that focuses on being funny. Bold move for Norm MacDonald. Let's see how it plays out!
